Actor Lee Sun Kyun, 48, star of the Oscar-winning South Korean film 'Parasites', is found dead

South Korean actor Lee Sun Kyunknown for his role in the four-Oscar-winning film Parasiteswas found dead this Wednesday, December 27, in a car, weeks after a police investigation into alleged drug use.

When police found Lee, it was initially thought that he was in an unconscious state. The actor's body was found in a vehicle in a park in central Seoul. The discovery occurred at 10:30 a.m. (local Korean time), after the police received a complaint containing a suicide note and the disappearance of his caraccording to the Yonhap news agency.

The actor had gone through several rounds of police interrogations over suspected drug use, although he claimed he was tricked and did not know what he was taking. He tested negative in various laboratory tests, but the investigation received extensive sensational coverage.

Lee, 48, was a well-known actor in South Korea, who achieved global success with Parasites (2019), Bong Joon Ho's film that won four awards at the Oscars and made history as the best foreign language film, winner of the best film award. He rose to stardom in the television series Coffee Prince (2007) and gained popularity with Behind The White Tower (2007), Pasta (2010) y My Mister (2018).
