Xavi rejected two offers before renewing for Al Sadd

Xavi Hernández, who has been enjoying with his family some well-deserved ones in Catalonia since Monday after a successful campaign with Al Sadd crowned by three titles (six since he has been in charge of the club), has all of Barcelona on edge: some sources place him as the man chosen by Joan Laporta to take over from Ronald Koeman for the next season. Pending whether these negotiations bear fruit or not, the club ensures that there is no consensus regarding the figure of Xavi, although in the end the last word will be for the Blaugrana president, who already made a difficult and courageous decision in 2008, when he opted for a young coach, with only one year of experience on the bench and in Third, like Pep Guardiola. However, on that occasion, the Blaugrana leader had two substantial advisers such as Johan Cruyff and Txiki Beguiristain to support his decision, while at present, both Mateu Alemany and Ramón Planes do not seem to have the same ancestry.

In any case, while at Barcelona they agree if Xavi has enough personality and experience to carry out a new project, other clubs seem to be clear that the legendary Blaugrana player would be the ideal man to manage their management. Obviously, the first has been Al Sadd, with which he has renewed until June 30, 2023, but with the inclusion of a liberating clause in the event that Barcelona claims him, with a symbolic financial penalty, that the sheikh He has promised not to claim.

A few weeks before signing with the Qatari club, as AS has learned, Xavi received a very interesting offer from Borussia Dortmund to coach the German team for the next three seasons. It must be remembered that the German club has been managed since December by an interim coach with little experience on the bench, the German Edin Terzic, after the removal of the Swiss Lucien Frave. Borussia, a club with an offensive vocation and that has always opted for young and ambitious coaches – Jurgen Klöpp and Thomas Tuchel are clear examples – saw Xavi as the ideal person to reformulate their new project.

But there was another call that surprised even Xavi himself. And it is that the Brazilian Football Federation contacted the technician to offer him the possibility of being Tite's second with Brazil until the Qatar World Cup in 2022, to later assume the position of head coach after the World Cup.

In any case, Xavi, after thanking the interest, rejected both offers, since there are only two clubs on his roadmap today: Al Sadd and FC Barcelona. Now it remains to be seen on the bench of which of the two will finally sit next season.
