William and Harry, in the intimate duel in Buckingham: Elizabeth II returns home

From St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh to RAF Northolt, the Royal Air Force airport in the Scottish capital. It is the route that the funeral procession with the mortal remains of the monarch has traveled to set off for London this Tuesday the 13th in the afternoon. The symbolic trip back home has been commanded by Princess Anne, due to her second-in-command status, after the eldest son Carlos III. Ana has been accompanied by her husband, Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence.

The newly proclaimed king was waiting with his wife, Camilla, in Buckingham to receive his mother, his predecessor on the Throne. The Sun has confirmed this afternoon that the Princes of Wales and the Dukes of Sussex plan to join the family duel, along with other members of the royal family. It would be the second reunion of the Fab Four (as the British press called the two marriages, a name borrowed from the Beatles) after the death of Elizabeth II. After the marked estrangement between them, in January 2020, when the Sussexes left the royal family, the Fab Four dissolved and the term fell into disuse. Now Guillermo and Harry, and their wives, return to share moments of mourning.

In the vicinity of the palace, the emblematic official residence of the monarch for 70 years, thousands of people gather to lay roses and messages of affection.

An honor guard made up of three officers and 96 soldiers from the Royal Guard has been set up in the Palace Courtyard. They are the ones who have received the coffin, before being transferred to the Bow Room, where it has remained in the custody of a group of chaplains.

Operation Lion: Westminster Road

This Wednesday the 14th begins what has become known as Operation Lion. If during the first five days after his death, on September 8, Operation Unicorn was activated for having died in Scotland, a new phase in the protocol now begins. Lion is the road map that will mark the transfer of the mortal remains of the sovereign, from Buckingham to Westminster Hall. The burning chapel will be installed there.

Westminster Hall is the oldest building in the British Parliament. Kilometric queues of citizens are expected, who will approach the monumental headquarters to pay their respects to the monarch. The funeral chapel will remain from 5:00 p.m. (local time) on Wednesday the 14th until 6:30 a.m. on Monday the 19th, the day on which the state funeral will be held.
