Why Kerr didn’t like it when Poole left the Warriors at the last minute

Friday will be Jordan Poole’s first trip back to Chase Center since being moved to the Washington Wizards during the summer.

Poole used to play guard for the Warriors. The move shocked Poole, the NBA, and Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who still didn’t like how things were going for the young guard after four months.

“That made me sad when I think about it,” Kerr told Anthony Slater of The Athletic. There is no doubt that we might have done better now that we look back.

“When the Draymond Green punch happened, I know that we dealt with it in the best fashion we thought we could.”

“I hate how things turned out for Jordan because he is such a great success story.” It was an amazing marriage for both of us. He helped us get the title.

We helped them, you know, grow a winner and sign a big deal that would change his life. Everything went amazingly well. It was a bad ending, though.

It was a weird last year for Poole with Golden State. The Warriors signed him to a huge deal for several years after he helped them win their third NBA title within eight years. They are putting all of their hopes on the young guard for the future.

A few days beforehand the big payday, Poole received a blow by Draymond Green, a friend and veteran forward for the Warriors.

Eight months later, Green traded Poole to the Washington Wizards for Chris Paul, who is 38 years old.

After the fact, everyone involved has said that the incident was a big reason why Golden State had such a hard season last year, after they were eliminated early from the playoffs and had to make a lot of important choices.

Still, everyone was shocked when the Warriors let go of a player who looked like they were going to be a future star.

He told Slater, “Unless you were in this building, you might have spoken about what punishments could have been.”

“But you wouldn’t understand how complicated things got unless you were here every day having these talks and everything we sought to keep inside the house getting out.”

“No matter what happens, we will obviously be looked at closely.” It was very hard, but we tried the best we could. That’s what it will be between them two.”

Kevon Looney was close to Poole because they are both from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He thinks that the extra attention the event got from the media didn’t help either.

When things were that bad, Looney told Slater, “There’s only what you can do.” “Because of all the media attention our team gets and everything else going on, the clip is getting around.”

I think we did the best we could with it. You should know that Draymond and JP were pros.

During the season, they didn’t have any more blow-ups. However, they didn’t let how they felt affect how they played on the court. They played hard anyway. They played with each other still.

“That year, I think he got a bad rap. In fact, he scored 20 points a game and helped us make it to the playoffs.

He and Klay actually kept us going when Steph was sick for a while. We ran hard to get out from the play-in as well as won a lot of games. I believe he is misunderstood. That year wasn’t all bad. That’s how it might have felt.”

During his time with the Warriors, Poole had both good and bad times. This put him in the running for Most Valuable Player and Sixth Man of the Year.

During his breakout season in 2021–22, he shot 44.8 percent of the time and scored 18.5 points per game.

He also played 27.5 minutes a night and scored 17 points on 50.8 percent shooting while the Warriors were in the playoffs, which led to a Poole Party: Championship Edition.

The next year, Poole had a similar season, scoring a career-high 20.4 points while shooting 43 percent in 30 minutes of play each night.

Since joining the Wizards, Poole hasn’t said much about his old team, so he doesn’t have high hopes for his return to the Bay. However, Kerr and Warriors star shot Klay Thompson do.

Poole said, “I’ve never had the chance to go back and play somewhere where I used to play.” “Okay, I’m just going to go for it, and it should be cool.” I lived there for four years.”

Smith said, “We would not have won a championship in ’22 without him.” “That’s it. Because of this, I hope Dub Nation gives him a good round on Friday night.

“What happened was bad because he helped us put up a banner.” In the end, though, time heals all scars, and Dub Nation will always be thankful for the Poole Party.

Friday will be the first time Jordan Poole has been back to Chase Center since the Washington Wizards traded for him this summer. Poole used to play guard for the Warriors.

The move shocked Poole, the NBA, and Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who still didn’t like how things were going for the young guard after four months.

“That made me sad when I think about it,” Kerr told Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “When the Draymond Green punch happened, I know that we dealt with it in the best way we thought we could.” There is no doubt that we could have done better now that we look back.
