Two Stoichkov goals drive Eibar

Eibar kept the lead in LaLiga Smartbank this Saturday after coming back, with two goals from Stoichkov, against Huesca who, although they went ahead at the start of the second half, ended up giving in to the local push and could not repeat their good results in years earlier in Ipurua.

The Aragonese team came out strong, exerting advanced pressure, but the first two occasions were carried out by Corpas for Eibar. Huesca’s reply came with a good header from David Timor after a corner kick. The visitors, with a dense defensive network, hindered and slowed down the local attacks. Eibar did not play comfortably in the first minutes.

The gunsmiths tried to go up, but Huesca had the local players handcuffed with their orderly and intense pressure.

A distant shot from Ignasi MIquel in the 20th minute was once again a wake-up call for Eibar, who couldn’t get rid of the net woven by Huesca.

Huesca’s strategy was bearing fruit as the minutes passed, as Eibar not only failed to score, but hardly created any dangerous chances.

It had to be Expósito in the 37th minute who assisted Stoichkov, who crossed a shot from the left wing that went slightly wide in what was the clearest chance for Eibar of what they had in the first half. The fight between the two teams was useless in front of the goal and the break was reached with the initial goalless draw.

The second half began with the same players on the pitch. Huesca did not give up and in the 51st minute a strong shot by Florian was repelled with difficulty by Yoel and the rebound went to the head of Seoane, who deflected the ball against the right post and out of reach of the gunsmith goalkeeper.

First goal of the game and a jug of cold water for Eibar, who looked behind in Ipurua, something that has not happened on many occasions this season. After the visitor’s goal, Huesca began to withdraw and Eibar advanced knowing that they were already playing against the clock in search of a draw.

Those of Garitano did not finish being comfortable. Xisco Muñoz moved the bench to reinforce his defense against the high number of players he had booked. Eibar also put gunpowder up with the entry of two points like Blanco Leschuk and Fran Sol.

It was Lago Junior who put Yoel to the test again with a long shot in the 70th minute full of danger. Huesca was very comfortable with the score and with the dynamics of the game.

However, Eibar did not give up and reinforced their offensives. In one of them, in the 75th minute, a center by Tejero ended with the ball in the head of Stoichkov, who inside the area sent the ball near the left post, thus achieving the tie. The Andalusian marked his twelfth goal of the season. In the 85th minute, in a very similar play, a new cross from Tejero and Stoichkov headed a ball off-marks in an unappealable manner and also from the left. Thirteen goals and a goal that could be worth three points and a lead.

Huesca tried to react and Poveda had the equalizer in his boots and on the last play it was Andrei who almost scored. In the end it couldn’t be and Huesca’s good work went to waste thanks to Stoichkov’s two goals and Eibar’s unbeatable effectiveness.
