The Spanish women's table tennis team says goodbye to the Olympic dream

MADRID, Jan. 26 (SportsFinding) –

The Spanish women's table tennis team has fallen to South Korea in the semifinals of the second elimination phase of the World Team Pre-Olympic, which is being held in Gondomar (Portugal).

In this way, Spain says goodbye to the possibility of qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 team tests and will seek individual qualification in the Moscow Pre-Olympics, in April, and Doha, in May.

Those of Silvia Erdelji, who surpassed their first tie against Belarus (3-2), started the tie with Ana García and Galia Dvorak in the doubles, leaving Maria Xiao as base, with the possibility of playing two individual matches. However, the Korean duo Shin-Choi was superior from the start and took the duel (3-0).

After that, Maria Xiao sought to match the tie against Hyowon Suh, but the Asian player took out her defensive repertoire, returning practically every ball of the Spanish and winning by 11-9, 11-8 and 11-3. In the last game, Galia Dvorak fell to Hyojoo Choi 11-5, 11-3 and 11-2.
