The RFEF defends that the negotiation for the Super Cup was “clean and clear”: “I hope there are more operations like this”

MADRID, 18 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has defended that the operation with Saudi Arabia for the organization of the Spanish Super Cup was “clean and clear”, with the “cooperation” of the Kosmos company as an intermediary, and has highlighted that it was ” very positive for Spanish football” and that “hopefully” there can be more agreements of this type.

“It is a clean and clear, transparent operation,” say RFEF sources consulted by Europa Press. “It was a great operation for Spanish football, very positive. It has offered 240 million euros in six years, of which 120 million will go directly to non-professional football. I hope there are more operations like this,” they point out.

As published on Monday by the digital newspaper ‘El Confidencial’, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, and the FC Barcelona player and president of Kosmos, Gerard Piqué, would have agreed a commission of 24 million euros to bring the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia.

From the RFEF they show “tranquility” after revealing the audios between the maximum federative president and the Barça footballer, and highlight that the relationship was one of “cooperation” with Kosmos, who acted as an “intermediary” and who in no case received commissions from the RFEF , but it was Saudi Arabia that paid such amounts, which amounted to four million euros for each of the six years in which the competition would be held on Asian soil.
