The longest debut in the world

Ihattaren is freaked out every time a FIFA date arrives. The young talent from PSV has been waiting his turn with the senior Dutch team for more than a year, when on November 3, 2019 it was announced that he chose to play for the Netherlands and not for Morocco. This week your turn might come, but has fallen ill and his teammate Dumfries will replace him.

This decision was very mediatic in the country. Koeman, the coach at the time, and the entire Federation fought hard to win the favor of one of the revelations of the season in the Eredivisie. They didn't want to repeat the mistake they made with Ziyech (international with the Netherlands in the lower categories and with Morocco at the absolute level). In the fall of last year they fought for Dest and him, and only got the midfielder.

Since then, bad luck has taken its toll on Ihattaren. The first call to which he aspired, the FIFA date of mid-November, was too hasty and they did not call him. The coronavirus arrived and what might seem like an imminent call was delayed until this past September. So Lodeweges, interim coach after Koeman's departure, did not get him in any game. In October he had another chance, but ended up falling out of the squad due to injury. Just like this one after falling ill.

Sooner or later it will debut and It seems clear that he will not change his mind, but not yet debuting it is still selectable by Morocco. For the moment He only has to resign himself and wait until the end of March, the next FIFA date and, hopefully, his debut.
