The court rejects Joselu’s lawsuit demanding more than 275,000 euros from Alavés for ending his contract

MADRID, 29 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Social Court no. his contract, according to a statement from the ‘babazorro’ team.

“Deportivo Alavés has been notified of the ruling of the Social Court No. 1 of Vitoria-Gasteiz, which completely rejects the claim of the former Club player, Joselu, in which he claimed compensation for the termination of his contract at the rate of 12 days per year worked, that is, 36 days for the entire duration of his contract, and which amounted to more than €275,000.00 plus interest,” Alavés reported.

The Vitoria court “ratifies the actions of Alavés” and argues that “the end of the contract did not come from the will of the club, but from the footballer’s decision to abandon it, despite having the possibility of automatically extending the contract for a season more”. Furthermore, the resolution makes it clear that “the player had contractually waived the compensation subsequently claimed.”

“In addition to this, the Sentence also highlights the great economic effort that during the 2021/2022 season, given the importance of the player at a sporting level for Alavés, by making an important renewal offer for two more seasons, more even taking into account the club’s sporting situation, which was rejected by Joselu,” the entity expressed.

Faced with this ruling, Alavés showed its “satisfaction” with the content of the judicial resolution, which only “ratifies the actions of the club, in defense of its rights, without prejudice to the possibility of it being appealed by part of the Player”.
