MADRID, 16 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The 2023 Iberdrola Boxing Cup will be held on November 4 in the Madrid city of Móstoles, a competition organized by the Royal Spanish Boxing Federation with the collaboration of the town’s City Council and with the best boxers in the national territory, according to a statement. .

The competition will take place in several weight categories and a single combat in each of them: 46-48kg, -50kg, -52kg, -54kg, -57kg, -63kg, and -66kg. In each category, the head of the national team will face off against a rival chosen from among the best athletes in the national ranking, such as those who came in first, second or third place in the Spanish Elite AOB Championships by autonomies this year.

The competition will be held on November 4 starting at 6:00 p.m. at the PAU-4 South Sports Hall in Móstoles (Madrid), after six editions have been held in different parts of Spain. It will be the second time that the Iberdrola Cup is held in Madrid, after the 2022 edition, when the championship took place in the Plaza de Colón.

As prior to the Iberdrola Cup, a public access confrontation by pesos will be held between the rivals of the competition, the first face to face between the boxers. In addition, boxing training will be developed for the youngest local public with technicians from the national team in charge of it in a public place and with the collaboration of members of the national Olympic team.

“It is an honor for Móstoles to be the next venue for the Iberdrola Boxing Cup and to be able to have the best boxers in Spain. With this evening, our city is, after Madrid, a sporting benchmark. Our commitment as the City Council is to continue working so that events of this nature continue to choose our city,” said the mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista.

For his part, the president of the Royal Spanish Boxing Federation, Felipe Martínez, remarked that Móstoles is a “perfect city for the development” of one of its “star competitions.” “The Iberdrola Cup in each new edition has a higher sporting level and monitoring. We are sure that it will be a success thanks to the support of the local City Council,” he concluded.
