Surne Bilbao cuts the bleeding and stops Valencia Basket’s streak

MADRID, 9 Apr. (SportsFinding) –

Surne Bilbao Basket put an end to its bad streak of four consecutive defeats in the Endesa League at the expense of Valencia Basket, who had won six in a row, while Baxi Manresa showed their great regularity at home to continue in fifth place, in matches of day 28.

In Miribilla, the team from Bilbao was reborn knocking down Valencia Basket (84-78) after waking up to the ‘taronja’ comeback in the third quarter. Joan Peñarroya’s men were able to pick up 19 points but they did not finish against the locals, who are up to eleventh position in a game that could be a turning point.

Darmien Inglis, with 19 points (18 PIR), and Ángel Delgado with 20 (11 rebounds and 13 points) were the most outstanding this Saturday in a duel where Olivier Hanlan made his debut with the Valencians, who remain third with the same balance as Joventut Badalona.

For its part, BAXI Manresa had a great game at home (95-91) in the Catalan derby against Joventut. Pedro Martínez’s men commanded from start to finish, dominating the clash in all facets without allowing a single advantage for the ‘penya’, which missed the opportunity to rise to third position after Valencia’s puncture. The best player in the game was Joe Thomasson, who finished with 25 points and a PIR of 30.

In addition, Lenovo Tenerife dispatched Río Breogán (96-78) in a duel that was resolved in the third round (33-19) thanks, in large part, to Sasu Salin’s 14 points. Another standout was Girogi Shermadini, who concluded the duel with 19 points and a PIR of 32. The Canarians are placed in sixth place and the Galicians will continue to be tenth.

On the other hand, Coosur Betis scored the permanence duel against Casademont Zaragoza (79-69), a direct rival in the fight to save the category (79-69) thanks to the success from the perimeter and a great Shannon Evans (19+11); while Urbas Fuenlabrada defeated Monbus Obradoiro 93-92 and continue close to sealing permanence.
