Spain topples Hungary (9-12) and will fight for the medals in the Women’s Water Polo World Cup

MADRID, 24 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women’s water polo team has beaten Hungary (9-12) on Monday in the quarterfinals of the Fukuoka World Championship and accesses the semifinals, where they will face Australia, to start the fight for the medals again in an appointment where, for the moment, they are being a block at key moments.

Spain was measured against a power like Hungary, which arrived fresher and more rested at the appointment, but again the Magyars ran into their nightmare; some Spaniards that with Martina Terré flying in the goal and Judith Forca decisive with 5 goals surpassed the Hungarians in defense and in attack to win that precious ticket to ‘semis’.

Hungary was the leader of Group D, ahead of Canada, New Zealand and Japan, and went directly to this quarterfinal match in which they ran into a more rounded Spain after going through the round of 16 and easily beating France (9-16). Now Miki Oca’s men will face Australia, who gave the surprise by beating Greece (8-9).
