Slovenia also does not give Spain an option in the men’s European volleyball

Second defeat of the ‘RedLynxes’ in the tournament, also 3-0

MADRID, 2 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish volleyball team lost this Saturday against the Slovenian team by a clear 3-0 (25-19, 25-15 and 25-15) during the third day of the men’s European Championship, whose Group B is playing its matches in the city of Varna (Bulgaria).

The ‘RedLynxes’ thus conceded their second defeat in the tournament, both in a row and on the fast track. Back on the field of the Palace of Culture and Sports, Miguel Rivera’s pupils wanted to make up for the defeat against Croatia the day before, but it was difficult for them to find continuity in their actions to maintain balance on the scoreboard.

With solidity, the Slovenian team controlled the first moments of the match. Pressing on the serve, complicated the game construction of the ‘RedLynxes’, who linked a bad dynamic of errors that prevented continuity in their actions. In this way, the set closed 25-19 in favor of the current continental runner-up.

Álvaro Gimeno started the second set from the court, sharing with Jordi Ramón the task of balancing the score. And although Spain focused its efforts and thus managed to adjust the figures, another series of errors was added to several successes by the rival attack, without stopping to grow the distance until Slovenia took that second set.

The script between the Slovenians and the Spanish was repeated in the third set. Adjusted start and exchange of actions until the middle of the set, where Gheorghe Cretu’s pupils accelerated with the points of Klemen Cebulj, to go from 16-14 to the final 25-15. Spain will return to the slopes this Sunday (4:30 p.m.) to face Finland on the fourth day, in a decisive clash for their aspirations.
