The sheikh arrived as a God and left numerous unfulfilled promises and the team in Second Division in the hands of a judicial administrator.

A lost decade is a time of economic stagnation, a term that has crossed Latin America, Japan, Great Britain itself in its postwar era and has landed in Mlaga. This week, Mlaga CF closed its particular lost decade. Ten years after his arrival and acquire the club for 30 million euros (debt of 14 included), Sheikh Qatar Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani, as well as the rest of his family, was removed from the chair of the presidency by order of the titular judge of the Court of Instruction No. 14 of Mlaga.

An entrepreneur, fond of football and horses, who landed to elevate Mlaga CF to the heights, save him from his debt and put him in the world football lite. And so it was – at first – because the Costasoleo team played the glory when playing the Champions League and qualifying until the quarterfinals and very close to accessing the semifinals.

The sheikh I stopped investing in the 2012-13 season, the defaults began and UEFA sanctioned the club with a fine that prevented it from playing again in the Champions League and began a path of thorns that ended the descent in the 2017-18 campaign.

Al Thani made and undid as he pleased, even having six sports directors: Sandro Sierra, Antonio Fernndez, Mario Husillos -he had two stages in the club-, Francesc Arnau, Jos Luis Prez Caminero and the current Manolo Gaspar. However, not only did he not reap success on the green, but the business projects he brought with his arrival in Spain also failed to bear the expected fruits.

The Academy project never saw the light, the lands of Arraijanal – place where the fields for the lower categories must be built – are abandoned, are the symbol of neglect and lack of investment by the Al Thani family. There was never Academy, nor port of La Bajadilla.

Unrealized projects

Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani wanted to convert the fishing port of Marbella and provide the city with more luxury, a millionaire investment and whose objective was the construction of a spectacular dike with the capacity to house huge ships. Jams was carried out because the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA) annulled the tendering of the land to the company Nas Marbella – company of Sheikh Al Thani – due to lack of solvency.

The Al Thani decade was nothing and forever remembered for the last four months of social mockery, business chaos and the arrival of the last director general, the American Richard Shaheen. Lack of commitment, little credibility with the institutions and dismissals of professionals who for years – much more than those that the sheikh has been presiding over the entity – have defended the shield and the colors of a Mlaga that ended up in a horror story and directed through social networks.

The sheikh arrived as a God and has ended up being excommunicated from his own temple, although leaving a trail of victims, a fire without extinguishing and giving Jos Mara Muoz, the new judicial administrator who has taken over the company, I work to prevent the Mlaga CF from having the same destiny as the one who has lived its president for 10 years.
