Roures: “Real Madrid and Barcelona have to pay if they want to give women’s football”

MADRID, Jan. 22 (SportsFinding) –

The president of the Mediapro group, Jaume Roures, explained on Wednesday, regarding the stoppage of the signing of the first collective agreement for women's football, that Real Madrid and Barcelona “must pay” if they want to broadcast their Iberdrola League matches in their respective channels, “like the rest of the teams”.

“What Madrid asked for is to broadcast their matches on their channels, and we are in favor of maximum dissemination. What we say is that they have to pay for it,” Roures explained during the presentation of a study on the consumption of football in public places, in which he participated with the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas.

The head of Mediapro explained that the games played by Real Madrid and Barcelona represent “25% of the total” of the duel of the First Iberdrola, and its production amounts to “some million euros.” “We are talking about a million, not calderilla, so they have to reach an agreement with the other clubs,” he said.

“We, with which Madrid and Barcelona are issued, have never had any problems, but that must be accommodated so that everyone receives the same,” added the managing partner of Mediapro.

On the other hand, Roures pronounced on the current crisis of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), after the resignation last Tuesday of the Vice President of Integrity, Ana Muñoz. “You just have to be patient, time has taught me that you have to doubt the realities of the repeated proclamations,” he added.

“We continue to insistently request a rectification of the RFEF in this aspect of not admitting us to the competitions, and there are specific dates of trials and conciliations, but a judge will decide who is more complete. To us the RFEF integrity lord told us , in front of a judge, that the integrity report against us has already been 'cooked', “he said.

Finally, regarding Mediapro's involvement in the dissemination of football in bars, he considered that hiring football in bars “is still cheap, compared to the income it produces.” “15 years ago the price was 135 euros a month and we had 85,000 bars, now we are far from this, because of piracy, and because convergent offers do not favor this,” he added.

“We have a unique price in any bar, in any place, when the same benefit that can be general in one location than another is really not the same, depending on the inhabitants, or the size of the bar, everything changes. That's why we want to adapt prices to realities, “he stressed.
