Pole Hubert Hurkacz wins the title in Marseille

The Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkacz has won the sixth title of his career by proclaiming himself champion of the ATP 250 category tournament in Marseille (France) and played on indoor hard courts, after beating Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi (6-6) in the final on Sunday. 3, 7-6(4)).

Hurkacz, who had not reached a final since last summer at the Masters 1,000 in Montreal (Canada), beat the local tennis player in an hour and a half of play to lift his second crown on indoor hard court after that of Metz in 2021.

The man from Wroclaw, 26 years old and number 11 in the ATP ranking, used two breaks to win the opening round; he went ahead 4-1 and responded to his opponent’s lone break with a counterbreak in the eighth game.

Already in the second set, he had to wait for the ‘tie-break’ to sentence the contest, which represents his tenth victory in the 14 games played in 2023. In this way, he is only 96 points away from returning to the ‘Top 10’ world.
