Former basketball player Pau Gasol, double NBA champion and considered the best Spaniard in history, will receive the 2021 Medal of Sports Merit City of Zaragoza at the Sports Gala in the capital tomorrow, as approved by the Board of Directors of Zaragoza. the Zaragoza Sport municipal society.
In it, in addition to the Medal of Sports Merit, various awards will be given to people and institutions whose career has stood out in Zaragoza’s sport during the past year.
The rest of the awards agreed are the Diploma of Sports Merit for María Delgado, Begoña García, Carlos Mayo, Cristina Ouviña, Teresa Perales and Jesús Vallejo, and posthumously for Pepe Boned, Félix Gómez and Francisco Santos.
Likewise, the European champions Eduardo Menacho and Marta Pintanel, the world champions Esther Briz, Adrián Longarón and Rafael Solís will be awarded. Sport and Base will be for Félix Laguna, Sport and City for Zaragoza Athletics, Sport and Communication for Manuel de Miguel, Sport and Youth for Carmen García and Sport and Women for Pilar Valero.
Likewise, the career of Fernando Bolea, the values of Alejandro Sánchez and the Ibercaja Award ‘Promotion and Promotion of Sport’ will be awarded to the Aragonese Orienteering Federation.
