Maradona, “happy” to return to work with Gimnasia

Diego Maradona, coach of Gymnastics and Fencing La Plata, was present this Tuesday for the first time in a session of his team since the return to training, on August 11.

“Very happy to be back in Gymnastics, following all the protocols of my doctor Leopoldo Luque. Let's go Wolf !!! “, published the 1986 world champion in Mexico on his Instagram account.

The message was accompanied by a photograph in which he appears with the club's training clothes and a mask with the shield of Gymnastics and Fencing La Plata.

His daughter, Gianinna maradona, and thousands of people celebrated the return of the coach through the social network. Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata had returned to training on August 11, one day after the date allowed by the national government.

Those who take care of the Argentine coach's health at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa had recommended that he absent himself from the first training sessions to avoid catching the coronavirus.

“He has many factors: excess weight, hypertension, he was recently operated on and is at the limit of 60 years,” Pablo Del Compare, one of his doctors, said in radio statements a month ago.

Since returning to training, no gymnastics player or member of the coaching staff has tested positive for coronavirus. The Argentine Soccer Association (AFA) ended the 2019/20 season and canceled the relegations, something that benefited the La Plata club, which was struggling to stay in the top flight.

The next tournament has no start date yet.
