López Muñiz: “I am optimistic, because there are wicker to save yourself”

Juan Ramón López Muñiz passes his first exam at the head of Alavés. Against Real Madrid the team adds its sixth consecutive defeat, but it comes out reinforced and with good feelings in the face of the momentous clash this Monday against Getafe.

The coach praised his team. “We did a good first part, sometimes, and we went to the break losing undeservedly,” he said. “We had bad luck, or an opponent with great quality, who on his first arrival takes the penalty and gets ahead undeservedly,” he stressed in his analysis of the first half. “After 2-0 there was a time when we separated a little more and suffered, but we took the pulse quickly with occasions”, he completed his summary satisfied because “positive things have been seen and things that we have to improve”

The Asturian now focuses his sights on trying to “recover the best possible” for his team ahead of Monday, the day when a Getafe will be measured that comes with many casualties, but that he will enjoy more rest time having played on Thursday. “We were able to prepare in the final minutes a little after the game so that people arrive as fresh as possible,” he explained after sitting at 55 to Lucas Pérez and at 68 to Joselu.

He played down the lack of albiazul success in the auction. “I would worry if we didn't have chances to score, but we did and the rival goalkeeper made very good stops,” he said. “The goal will come, because we have great forwards who will take advantage of the opportunities,” he said.

“Daring team”

He praised the attitude and courage of his pupils. “I liked that the team, because it has been daring and has stolen near the area,” he said before demanding “a little more tranquility with the ball.”

He made it clear that the clash against Getafe, in which Bordalás's men fight to the limit for each ball, will have little to do with the one played against Real Madrid. “Monday's game is going to be very different, since they are going to demand a very high physical level and we have to match it, because otherwise we will give the rival an advantage,” he warned.

He reiterated his positive message. “I think there are wicker to save us, but we have to take a step in intensity and distance between the lines. We have kept the game in an area where if we steal we can take advantage of the speed, ”he said.

He claimed more intensity. “The team has strengths, but we have to defend more intense and further from the goal,” he said. “It is vital to try to leave the goal to zero in the next three games, balance the goals for and against. It is easier to score a goal than four and thus we will have more possibilities of winning ”, he argued.

“Responsible”

“I am very optimistic, because I have found a very good predisposition of the players; There is a very responsible group, we all know what we are dealing with, ”he stressed. “Optimism does not mean that without running I will win, but that on Monday we will have to make an effort equal to or slightly greater than that made against Real Madrid,” he warned.

He tried to bring serenity and recalled that Alavés, with a victory, will be saved. “It is not a drama. We have three games, three chances to win. We hope that the team will give the level offered in this match or a little more in the following ones, ”he wished before claiming“ maximum effort ”again. “We have to leave the games exhausted, we will recover for the next, because we cannot save a single gram of energy,” he concluded.
