Lewis Hamilton joins the Denver Broncos ownership group

MADRID, 2 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

British Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) has become a shareholder in the new ownership group of the Denver Broncos, the National Football League (NFL) team confirmed on Tuesday.

“We are delighted to welcome seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton to our ownership group. He is a champion competitor who knows what it takes to lead a winning team and a fierce advocate for global equality, even in his own sport,” Rob Walton on behalf of the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group said in a statement.

The Walton-Penner family, led by billionaire Rob Walton, acquired the Colorado franchise in June of this year for $4.6 billion, ending three years of management by a trust group since the death of the previous owner. Pat Bowlen, in 2019.

“With more than 100 race wins, Lewis is considered the most successful Formula 1 driver of all time. His resilient spirit and level of excellence will be an asset to the Broncos ownership group and organization.”

The Denver Broncos compete in the Western Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) of the NFL and have won three Super Bowl titles (1997, 1998 and 2015).
