Leganés faces a demanding test against Eibar for direct promotion

Espanyol will try to deal a hard blow to Huesca to get closer to the lead

MADRID, 29 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The leader Leganés will play this Sunday in Butarque the twenty-ninth round of LaLiga Hypermotion against the third-placed team, Eibar, where both teams will want victory to recover the positive feelings after being defeated last round in a direct duel.

The ‘pepinero’ team left Santander defeated after losing to Racing (2-1) in a match where they took the lead but the local team ended up coming back. Borja Jiménez’s men, in the last five games, have only achieved victory against Alcorcón, but they have had three consecutive home games leaving a clean sheet, something that makes them by far the team with the fewest goals scored in the competition with 18 goals fitted.

For its part, Eibar will go to the south of Madrid to try to forget last day’s tough defeat against Espanyol, who scored two goals in the 96th and 99th minutes to tip the balance for the Catalan side. With that defeat they fell out of the direct promotion positions and are third, something they will want to solve by winning in the dangerous Butarque.

On the other hand, Espanyol is on a sweet note after winning the last two rounds and receives a Huesca (4:15 p.m.) that is slightly above the relegation zone. The Catalan team will once again rely on the competition’s top scorer, Martin Braithwaite, who has scored a total of 17 goals so far.

Huesca, despite being sixteenth, and very close to relegation, has five games without defeat, of which they have drawn three and won two games. They will play away again, since last day they visited Miranda de Ebro and emerged victorious in a resounding way against Mirandés (0-3).

The day will open this Friday with Sporting de Gijón hosting Albacete at El Molinón (8:30 p.m.), in a match in which the Asturian team wants to return to the path of victory after not winning in the last two days. They face the match from seventh position tied with Racing de Ferrol and will want to get back into the play-off positions.

Albacete will visit Asturias with the aim of moving away from the relegation places that are only one point below (30). In the last four rounds they have not lost but they have only won in one of them and they will want to continue the streak to save the category.

The day will close at the Martínez Valero with an Elche that aspires to remain in the play-off positions and that receives an Alcorcón in relegation positions. The Olicitano team is currently fifth with 44 points and has just achieved a difficult victory in Cartagena. Of the last eight league matches, seven have ended with a clean sheet for Elche.

Alcorcón, for its part, is second to last with 29 points and has just drawn at home against Tenerife (1-1). Furthermore, the potter team has been conceding at least one goal for four days and will have the pending task of not conceding and trying to score against the currently strongest team in LaLiga Hypermotion.
