Koeman will collect six million from Barça if he does not renew

As reported by Esport3 this Sunday night at El Club de la Mitjanit, Barça will have to pay Ronald Koeman six million euros if he does not renew him for a third season, 2022-2023. This is specified by a clause in his contract that, according to Esport 3, was signed by Josep Maria Bartomeu, former Barça president, and Ronald Koeman, in August 2021 when the Wembley hero took over the first team and signed for two years. The amount has to do with the compensation that Koeman paid to the Dutch Federation, KNVB, to be able to leave the team and become a Barça coach.

Although the clause will not influence the decision taken by Joan Laporta, and which now points almost one hundred percent to his departure, it does have to do with the paradox of offering him renewal at the time of wanting to dismiss him. According to Esport3, the compensation that Joan Laporta will have to pay is around 13-14 million euros whether he fired Koeman now or if he did so once he was renewed.

Once again, the figure of Koeman related to economic matters, such as last season, when it slipped that Barça did not get rid of him because of the fortune that had to be paid for compensation. For now, the Dutchman, although in a position of weakness, continues.
