Javi Rodríguez, new coach of ElPozo Murcia Costa Cálida

MADRID, 2 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish coach Javi Rodríguez has become this Tuesday the new coach of ElPozo Murcia Costa Cálida after reaching an agreement with the Murcian club until 2024, a few hours before starting the preseason work.

“The Catalan coach takes the reins of the Murcian team until 2024 and will be officially presented this Thursday. Javier Rodríguez Nebreda is already coach of ElPozo Murcia Costa Cálida FS for the next two seasons, June 2024,” ElPozo said on Tuesday.

Javi Rodríguez, 48, faces his fourth project at the helm of a bench after passing through the one directed to Györ from Hungary -with whom he reached the Final Four of the Champions League- and Kherson from Ukraine. Since December 2019 in the Spanish League he has managed the Industrias García bench.

The former Spanish international, with an enviable track record as a player, replaces Diego Giustozzi, who said goodbye to ElPozo Murcia more than two months ago with the end of the season. The negotiations, however, did not bear fruit until this Tuesday, a few hours before the start of the preseason, a month and a half after the start of the domestic championship.

Javi Rodríguez was international with the Spanish team, with which he won two World Cups (2000 and 2004) and four European Championships.
At club level, he won four Champions Leagues, four Leagues, two King’s Cups, two Spanish Cups and a Spanish Super Cup, in addition to being considered the Best Player in the World in 2006 and the Gold Medal of the Royal Order of Sports Merit in 2013. He was nicknamed ‘The Myth’.
