The Court of Madrid sentenced to two years in prison and to pay a fine of 18.8 million euros to a head of Hacienda for defrauding more than six million thirty footballers and basketball players, keeping their tax returns, as well as eight years in prison for three lawyers involved in the plot.

The Chamber details that the penalty is imposed by virtue of article 8 of the Penal Codewhich allows prison sentences of up to three years and a fine of up to six times the benefit pursued, obtained or facilitated, and taking into account that it is “an official with a relevant position in the AEATwhose action involved obtaining a high benefit for the accused”
On the other hand, the three lawyers involved, Julio LV, Manuel VJ y Juan Ignacio TShave been sentenced to eight years in prison as authors of the continuing crimes of fraud and falsehood in public, official and commercial documents and of taking advantage of privileged information obtained from a public official, for which they must also pay a fine of 12,000 euros each.
