Ibiza and Mérida win the postponed matches and get into the second round of the Copa del Rey

MADRID, Jan. 8 (EUROPE PRESS) –

UD Ibiza and Mérida AD won their matches in the first round of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, respectively against Pontevedra CF (0-2) and CF La Nucía (2-2 and 3-2 win on penalties), that last December they had been postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

Thus, Ibiza and Mérida agreed to the imminent second round. While the Ibiza team will play next Saturday (8:00 p.m.) against Albacete Balompié, the team will face the Celta de Vigo next Sunday (4:00 p.m.).

In the stadium of Pasarón, the game resumed from the 16th minute and with 0-0 on the scoreboard. When he ran on 27 ', Francisco Grima passed the visitors; and Ángel Rodado, midway through the second half, sentenced with the second goal and left his opponent without the ability to reply.

On the other hand, there was much more excitement at the Roman Stadium in Mérida. Far away was the risk of the collapse of a light turret, because of the strong wind and that had caused the interruption of the duel between the locals and La Nucía.

After having resumed in the 37th minute, with 0-1 on the scoreboard, José Antonio 'Titi' Belmonte extended the visitor advantage. Juanjo Gracia lowered a center and left the ball so that the '9' of La Nucía scored just before the break. Jesús Mena shortened distances as soon as the second part began and Antonio Pino equaled in 69 ', causing the extension.

In that extra time, goalkeeper Javi Sánchez despaired the Alicante team with two key actions, so the ticket to the next round was decided in the penalty shootout. Juanan Casanova, José Mas and 'Fofo' Enriquez, whose shot was cleared by Javi Sánchez, failed the three maximum penalties that condemned La Nucía.
