Of those, nearly 1.1 ($1,242,025) will go to tournament champion Taylor Fritz. Also for Iga Swiatek, since the amounts are the same in the male and female category. Rafa Nadal and Maria Sakkari, for their part, upon reaching the final, 602,054 euros will enter.
Considered by many to be the fifth Grand Slam, the American tournament has always wanted to live up to the expectations created, both in sporting and economic terms. That is why, since 2012, its increase in prizes has been remarkable. In that edition, more than nine million dollars were distributeda figure far removed from the current one.
Big boost for early rounds
Compared to 2021, the total amount has increased by 0.48%; compared to the aforementioned 2012, by an incredible 82.84%. Since then, in addition, the amounts allocated to the first rounds of the contest have been especially increased. Nuria Párrizas, for example, eliminated in the first round, will earn €15,877; Pedro Martínez, in second, €27,232, and Jaume Munar or Roberto Bautista, in third, €49,146. The prize for Carlos Alcaraz, dropped by Nadal himself in the semifinals, in a duel for the history of Spanish tennis, amounts to €310,680.
