Harry Kane reinvents himself for Mourinho

Harry Kane is back. The striker has overcome the injury that embittered him last season and looks like never before. In terms of form, not in substance. The forward is the best assistant in the five major leagues with seven passes on goal in five games. They are followed by Müller with five in seven games played and Thauvin (Marseille) with also five in nine. Kane gives 1.42 assists every 90 minutes. In total he has participated in 12 goals, a production second only to Lewandowski among the stars of the best championships. The Pole has 10 goals and four assists for Bayern for five goals and seven passes from the Tottenham forward.

Kane, 27, is expressing himself like never before in his career in the decisive pass. And it is not that before he maneuvered badly out of the area, far from it, or he did not appreciate aptitudes in the delivery to the partner. In England they have always highlighted that quality in the battering ram. An example is the afternoon in which he destroyed Spain in 2018 with two passes on goal for the final 2-3 in favor of the British.

But before this season, Kane had scored 20 passes in the Premier in the last seven seasons. Now he busts those records with seven in five games. Why? The easy thing would be to think that the injuries, three serious, have subtracted explosiveness to attack spaces or hide and now he seeks life in another way. But it is better to think, and perhaps more certain, that he has refined his repertoire to give the best to Mourinho. Or more, well he has sharpened what he already had. English specialists have no doubt. Kane, from a young age, has always been a gifted player for the final pass and touched by an intelligence that is equal to that of the great Alan Shearer.

The game shows, more than a way to survive his injuries, the clever way out to remain efficient within Mourinho's counter-attacking proposal. The speed of Son, in the first instance, and the dose that Bale is providing are the ideal complement. The Korean to whom Kane delivered four goals against Southampton (2-5) already knows it well. So far as Premier, the forward has already created 13 scoring chances for his teammates with almost 76% accuracy in the pass, equaling the best ratio of his career. Last season, in 29 games played, he generated 27 scoring chances for his teammates and gave only two assists. Obviously, there is a new way of being profitable to Mourinho's proposal. Today, against Burnley he will have a new option to continue doing so.
