Halep: “I am no longer afraid of the coronavirus”

The tennis world remains divided over positions on whether or not to get vaccinated against the coronavirus. The vast majority of tennis players have been vaccinated, while other players such as Djokovic or more recently the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, have been against it.

One of those that has been vaccinated has been the Romanian Simona Halep, who was one of the most cautious in the return of tennis activity although he contracted the virus in October before getting vaccinated in February.

After her victory against Magda Linette in the first round of the Cincinnati WTA 1,000, Halep made this statement to encourage other athletes to get vaccinated. “I am not afraid of the coronavirus because I am already vaccinated. I feel protected, I take care of myself and I also wear the mask when there are many people.”

Halep also ensures that the fact that all tennis players are vaccinated could also make the 'bubbles' disappear, necessary to avoid possible infections but at the same time highly criticized by tennis players. “I don't like bubbles, I feel very stressed in them. If more people get vaccinated, it will be better, because we will have fewer restrictions.”
