Guardiola, convinced that De Bruyne will renew with City

Kevin De Bruyne's decision to reject Manchester City's renewal proposal has not caught Pep Guardiola by surprise. The Spanish coach is sure that the Belgian's path will continue to be linked to that of the ‘citizens’ beyond 2023, when the current contract ends.

According to The Times, the footballer said 'no' to that first offer from City, understanding that it did not meet his expectations and “reflecting his status as the best player in the Premier League.”

However, Guardiola is not at all worried. “I'm pretty sure he will stay, but at the same time we have to respect the process,” Pep told Sky Sports News.

“I don't know what's going on because I didn't speak to Txiki (Begiristain, City football director). But he knows how much we appreciate him, not just as a soccer player, but as a person. It is very important for the club. I am not worried. But in the end, of course, it is his decision, ”Guardiola said.

De Bruyne will undoubtedly be one of the key pieces in City's assault on the Carabao Cup, which would be the fourth in a row. To do this, this Wednesday the ‘citizen’ club will have to beat United in the semifinals.
