Gerard and Bacca hit it off

Villarreal has picked up cruising speed. To his recent success in Europe he has added two consecutive victories in LaLiga that have completely fumigated the doubts of the start of the year. He submitted a shrunken Cádiz, to which a controversial penalty of those that have become fashionable in Spain condemned him to go to tow as soon as you leave the locker room. Gerard, thrower of the unexpected gift, decided to expand some numbers to frame, with 12 goals in 2021 and 19 so far this year. The bad news is that he was injured. The rest of the match was debated between Bacca's tireless fight to sentence, something that he seemed to achieve in 67 ', and Cádiz's dream to, in an isolated play, manage to scratch a sounded award as he already did in Valdebebas, the Camp Nou and San Mamés. Alex could only get it right at 2-1 and bring some excitement.

Villarreal found the first goal before looking for it. His first approach to the area ended with a shot from Parejo that tripped on Jonsson's arm. The referee, assisted by the VAR, went to see the play on the monitor and ended up signaling the maximum penalty with the determination of who crosses a zebra crossing at midnight in the Castellana. Gerard, a specialist in that luck (he has seven), did not forgive. Cervera's great goal was to stay a virgin and play the long game. And his sketch was blown up immediately. It was difficult for him to find plan B. In addition, the referee correctly annulled Jonsson's equalizer (go late) in the 13th minute. Beyond the controversy, there was not much to highlight in the first half. If anything, that Chukwueze is fine and that the exit of the ball without Pau or Capoue is much more rugged. In Cádiz everything happens through the magic of Negredo and Sobrino and Álex's gift of opportunity, but he needs to have more of the ball and position himself better in the second plays.

Bacca kicked off the restart. His superb header to the center of Estupiñán seemed to be the sentence in the 48th minute, but Soto Grande declared an offside that defies science. Then he met the crossbar at 53 '. Finally, in the 67 'minute, the goal he was looking for came after a perfect diagonal from Foyth, which delivers on a note wherever he is needed, and another magical assist from Gerard (there have already been eight this season). The Colombian gave another lesson in competitiveness. With no time to see the goal repeated as many times as it deserved, Alex closed the gap after a bullet from Fali so Emery was forced to move his bench early to dribble more scares. The fatigue of Thursdays takes its toll. Cádiz, meanwhile, tried to press higher and risked in the changes. His performance improved considerably. He lacked freshness and a little more imagination and, above all, he had the continuous threats to the career of Gerard (he forced and overloaded himself before the selection break) and Chukwueze. They are two buffalo that come intimidating to the key section. In the end, the only chance for those from Cervera was a shot from the front and, above all, by fighting a hand from Yeremy that ended up being, in the eyes of those who have us confused, involuntary.
