Felix Auger-Aliassime resists the big finals

Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime is one of the players who is called to mark an era in the world of tennis since at 20 years old he has managed to be Top-20 of the ATP ranking (currently ranked 22), becoming one of the youngest tennis players to do so.

However, Auger-Aliassime is still holding out on his first professional title on the ATP Tour. The Montreal tennis player has reached six finals on the circuit between 2019 and 2020 and has lost all six, the last of them this Sunday against Alexander Zverev in Cologne.

The first of them was in Rio 2019, where after an immaculate tournament he fell to Serbian Laslo Djere (6-3 and 7-5). After reaching the semifinals of the Miami Masters, Auger-Aliassime reached the ffinal of the Lyon tournament, where Benoit Paire deprived him of the title (6-4 and 6-3). A few weeks later, the Canadian reached another final in Stuttgart, where he could not with the Italian Matteo Berrettini (6-4 and 7-6 (11)).

This season Auger-Aliassime came close to winning the title in Rotterdam, where he lost to Gael Monfils in the final (6-2 and 6-4). And a week later it was another Top-10, Stefanos Tsitsipas, who defeated him in the final of the Marseille Tournament (6-3 and 6-4). The last chance lost by the Canadian took place this weekend, when Auger-Aliassime could not beat Alexander Zverev in the final of the Cologne 1 Tournament (6-3 and 6-3).

Felix Auger-Aliassime has a new opportunity this week on the fast track in Cologne to look for that first title that he resists so much on the ATP circuit and put an end once and for all to his 'curse' in the finals.
