The facts came to light in 2019 but it has been now, thanks to New York Adult Survivors Law (eliminates the one-year statute of limitations for civil claims for sexual offences) that came into effect this Thursday, when the alleged victim went to the federal court in Manhattan to make the claim effective. It is not the first time he has against Trump: he sued him for defamation for the verbal attacks that he has received publicly from the magnate since the accusation was made public.

The document replicates the testimony of Jean Carroll, who revealed her terrible meeting with the former president in an article for the magazine New Yorker three years ago: “Approximately 27 years ago, the pranks at the luxury department store Bergdorf Goodman, on Fifth Avenue in New York City, took a dark turn when defendant Donald J. Trump grabbed plaintiff E. Jean Carroll, pushed her against a dressing room wall and pinned her with his shoulder and raped her.” According to the lawsuit, the alleged assault caused the victim “significant pain and suffering, lasting psychological damage, loss of dignity and invasion of her privacy.”

Trump has repeatedly denied the facts. His lawyer, Alina Habba, has said: “While I respect and admire people who come forward, unfortunately this case is an abuse of the purpose of this law that creates a terrible precedent and risks delegitimizing the credibility of the actual victims. “.
