Courtois: “I did not expect such a quiet night”

Thibaut Courtois, Belgian goalkeeper of Real Madrid, recognized after the victory of his team at home Atalanta (0-1) who “did not expect” a “so quiet” night, since he did not receive any shot between the three clubs in a circumstance conditioned by the expulsion in minute 18 of the Swiss Remo Freuler.

“The truth is that today I was not expecting such a quiet night in the goal. The red (card) helped because they couldn't attack that much, but it was a difficult game because they defended with ten behind. It was hard for us to find the hole, but we worked on the set pieces and it turned out well ”, commented the goalkeeper in Movistar +.

Courtois He highlighted the importance of having scored away from home and of the team's work, which adds four clean sheets in a row: “In their matches there are always many goals. We expected a complicated game, but with the red it is normal for them to defend behind and look for 0-0 or the goal on the counter attack ”, he said.

“We had a great concentration, a lot of possession, although we have not been able to create much at times. But that goal away is worth a lot. We cannot think that we already are. The lap will be difficult and we will be focused on that ”, he added.

Finally, the Belgian praised the results achieved despite the absence of nine footballers due to injury: “You have to see who comes back soon and who doesn't. We are the ones who are and fighting so that we are alive in the fight for the League and the Champions League when the rest return. We give everything we can, it is not easy but it is worth a lot. We have four clean sheets in a row, that team's defensive work counts a lot and we have to continue like this ”, he declared.
