Carmelo Canales, former Athletic vice president, dies

The rojiblanca family is in mourning for the death of Carmelo Canales at 60 years of age. The economist was vice president of Athletic in the Boards headed by Javier Uria and Ignacio Ugartetxe and he was in charge of chairing the club's management committee after the latter's resignation.

He promoted the creation of the new San Mamés and when Fernando Lamikiz he was elected as president he left the rojiblanca entity.
