Canada rises to number one in the Billie Jean King Cup ranking and Spain drops to seventh place

MADRID, 13 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Canada, brand new champion for the first time of the Billie Jean King Cup this Sunday in Seville, rose thanks to this success to first place in the Nations Ranking of the team competition, in which Spain falls to seventh position.

After the BJKC Finals at the La Cartuja Stadium that crowned the Canadian team, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) updated its classification with the champions in front for the first time, replacing Switzerland, winner in 2022, and rising to that honor from sixth place.

Italy, this year’s runner-up, also achieves its highest position since November 2016, fifth, while the ‘Top 4′ is completed by Australia, which could not overcome the ’round robin’ in Seville but remains second, Switzerland and Czechia, semi-finalist in the capital of Seville.

As for Spain, it falls from third position in this ranking to seventh after a BJKC Finals in which it was unable to shine again and failed to advance from the group stage where it lost 3-0 to Canada and then They beat Poland 2-1 in a tie with nothing at stake.
