Borja Iglesias stars in a campaign against discrimination based on sexual orientation

MADRID, 26 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Betis striker Borja Iglesias stars in an impressive campaign against discrimination based on sexual orientation, coinciding with LGBTQ+ Pride Month, recalling that attacks for this reason have “increased by 70%”.

“Hello, I’m Borja Iglesias and I’m heterosexual,” says the Galician attacker in an ironic video published on social networks, where he imagines the supposed reactions in the press or networks in a world where being heterosexual was a reason for discrimination. “Wouldn’t this ever happen? And why the other thing?” He concludes.

In addition, he points out that attacks with this motivation have increased in recent years. “In 2022 the number of attacks against sexual orientation has increased by 70%. They don’t attack me for being heterosexual. For this reason, more than ever, #muchoorgullo”, she indicates.

The one from Santiago de Compostela and his partner in the Betic group Aitor Ruibal already denounced homophobic attacks at the beginning of this month for a photo in which the two of them were seen at a wedding carrying a bag. “Every time these types of situations occur in reference to the phobias that still exist, they give me the strength to continue fighting so that everyone can do and enjoy themselves and others as they really want,” Iglesias declared at the time.

“Thank you very much for all the messages of affection that you always give me. And to those of you who are still in prehistory, I send you a lot of encouragement. It must be very difficult not to evolve and continue conditioning yourself instead of enjoying how precious it is life,” he continued.
