Banco Sabadell renews its sponsorship with Godó

The 68th edition of Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell-Conde de Godó Trophy, which will be held from April 17 to 25, 2021, will continue to have Banco Sabadell as the main sponsor, after the agreement between the bank and the Royal Tennis Club Barcelona-1899, venue of the event.

This agreement includes the extension of the sponsorship, which ended this year in which the tournament has not been held due to the COVID-19 pandemic, until the 2021 edition, which will represent the fourteenth sponsored by the entity since its arrival to the tournament as title sponsor in 2008.

The new agreement is similar to the existing one and allows one to remain in the elite of clay court tournaments, being one of the most traditional among the ATP Tour 500. The 2020 edition, which was postponed in its day, had an economic endowment of € 2,803,265, with € 2,661,825 in prizes, which places it as the second in the ATP 500 category, only surpassed by the China Open held in September in Beijing (€ 3,355,900).

As was the case in 2008, when the same protagonists negotiated a new main sponsor for the tournament, the circumstances were not favorable either due to the difficulties of the economic scenario at the time.

Now, Banco Sabadell has considered a priority to transmit tranquility to the organizers and stability to an event of maximum sporting relevance and which has proven to be an effective platform for the international projection of the city of Barcelona.

Another novelty in the tournament will be the entry of the Barcelona company Tennium in the management and operation of the same, after the IMG company was in charge for thirty years, with an agreement for two years, until 2023.
