Badosa sees the semifinals of Maestras with 2-0 against Sakkari

MADRID, 14 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa defeated (7-6 (4), 6-4) this Saturday the Greek Maria Sakkari to add two of two in victories in the WTA Finals that are being played in Guadalajara (Mexico), and thus caress their presence in the semifinals.

In a tough match lasting just over two hours, Badosa achieved her second win, after that achieved against Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, to lead the Chichén-Itzá Group. In fact, the Spanish has the ticket to the ‘semis’ almost guaranteed in the absence of a match, since it is worth a victory for Aryna Sabalenka or in three sets of Iga Swiatek in the duel between the two on this second day.

Badosa, for the first time in the tournament that brings together the eight best of the WTA season, signed her sixth victory against a ‘Top 10’ this season after hitting first against the Greek. The Spanish had to go to the ‘tie-break’, despite achieving a juicy 4-2, but in that sudden death she was also better than her rival.

Badosa’s aggressiveness to the rest put a Sakkari in a lot of trouble who lost her serve in the third game. The Greek endured and also pressed until she recovered the ‘break’, but without time to savor it, she gave up the final break for the Spanish triumph.
