“At heart, FIFA and UEFA have a monopoly”

Javier Ferrero, who was hired by Lorenzo Sanz as a Real Madrid lawyer and coincided with Florentino Pérez in the early days at the current president's club, spoke on a legal channel, 'Sports Law Institute', about the conflict over the Super League. “It is a complex issue in which all parties have some reason, but in UEFA they are capable of sanctioning Real Madrid. Another thing is that this sanction has a route ”, explained the Malaga lawyer, partner of the ‘Senn & Ferrero’ office.

Ferrero recalled in his speech that “the issue of the Super League is not new, it is an issue that comes from the so-called G-14 and the struggle between the big clubs and FIFA and UEFA has always existed for the distribution. There is some legitimacy in what the clubs claim and it is true that the attitude of the FIFA and UEFA do not want to say that it is arrogant, but with that point …, the truth is that deep down they have a monopoly”. The lawyer indicated that in FIFA and UEFA private, public and semi-public institutions coincide “and that is something that only happens in football, in these institutions. I also think they have a point of reason ”.

They asked Javier Ferrero about the position of Florentino Pérez and if he thought he would hold the pulse of the Super League. “We all know that Florentino is methodical and hard-working, and we know that it is hard for him to lose. Will continue with his position, and I believe that in the end there will be an understanding ”. In other words, that the former Madrid advisor believes that UEFA and the Superliga clubs will be forced to reach an agreement. “What drew attention was the staging of the Super League, which, whether due to precipitation or for other reasons, the truth is that it was presented badly”

Explaining Florentino's position, Ferrero stated that “he defends what he believes is best for Real Madrid and no one will be able to say anything to him or blame him. Remember that it is not your company. Other clubs that were in the project are, however, corporations … ”, he recalled.
