Arsenal defends the ‘Champions’ at Villa Park and Tottenham and West Ham fight for sixth place

MADRID, 18 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Arsenal seeks this Saturday, in the fragmented thirtieth day of the Premier League, to defend its ‘Champions’ position at Aston Villa, while Tottenham and West Ham, Sevilla’s executioner in the Europa League, face each other on Sunday for the last of the European positions.

The ‘gunners’ interrupted last Wednesday a streak of five consecutive victories in the domestic competition when they fell at the Emirates Stadium against Liverpool (0-2), but they continue to occupy the last of the places to access the Champions League, the fourth, with 51 points, one more than Manchester United.

In a weekend in which many of the ‘greats’ of the Premier face the quarterfinals of the FA Cup, Mikel Arteta’s men hope to endorse their position in Birmingham, where the ‘villains’ (36) want to forget their stumble against West Ham (2-1), which ended a series of three wins in a row.

Precisely, the ‘Hammers’ also come into action this Sunday in a transcendental London derby against Tottenham for sixth place, in which they will try to control the euphoria of having eliminated Sevilla in the round of 16 of the Europa League.

A goal from the Czech Tomas Soucek in the 39th minute leveled the tie, which went into extra time, and Yarmolenko, in the 112th minute, unleashed the madness in the London Olympic Stadium. The two teams go to the event tied at 48 points -with West Ham occupying sixth place-.
