Annemiek van Vleuten, before his retirement: “It will be a special season but I think about improving”

MADRID, 21 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Dutch cyclist Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar Team) acknowledged that she is still thinking about improving and polishing small details and, despite coming from winning everything in 2022 and facing her last year as a professional before retiring, she wants to continue giving everything to increase her record .

“I still think about improving. When I started it was easier to do so, now I focus on improving small details, and they are getting smaller every time. I want to get the best out of myself and the team,” she said at the Movistar Team 2023 presentation.

In fact, despite being a “special” year for being his retirement, he doesn’t want to think about it. “I will try to continue enjoying it and I will take it as one more season, but knowing that it will be special. I am very happy and very proud of everything I have achieved,” she acknowledged.

In summary, in 2022 he won everything. He won the Giro, Tour and Vuelta and, as a climax, the World Cup. “I have won all the races that I had as my goal, even the rainbow jersey (World Cup) which seemed incredible. But what I would highlight the most is that I have been able to give everything for the team,” he was honest.

And it is that the Dutch, despite receiving the Vélo d’Or award as best cyclist of the year, always sees herself as a team rider. “I never would have won anything without a team. Twice I won two Tours because two teammates gave me their bike. Without their bikes, I wouldn’t have won those two Tours,” she added.
