Alonso: “The Aston Martin project is very attractive”

MADRID, 25 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso (Alpine) valued this Thursday his signing for next season by Aston Martin, seduced by an “attractive project” with which he hopes to grow, while aspiring to take advantage of the second stage of the current World Cup to achieve a podium that would be “a dream”.

“I had this opportunity, Aston Martin called me after Vettel announced his retirement. We sat down and reached this agreement. The project is very attractive, they are investing a lot. A lot of new people have come to the team,” he said at a press conference prior to the Belgian Grand Prix.

“New facilities at Silverstone, a good project for the future. We are happy to unite and have this opportunity to grow together,” added the Spaniard, who was the protagonist just at the beginning of the holiday break due to his final with Alpine.

The double world champion defended his decision for the next season. “Within the possibilities that I had for next year, this was the right one. It has ingredients for the future that are usually synonymous with success, when you have people and investment. Let’s see if we can stop and do something very good next year it comes with Aston Martin,” he said.

On the other hand, Alonso trusts to continue his good moment with the Alpine during this weekend in Spa. “I hope to continue the consistency of eight times in a row in the points. Some could have been better. Even with difficulties we have managed to continue adding. I hope to have a clean weekend, the car is strong, we have improved a lot,” he said.

“I hope to be in the Top 5 here, I think it’s possible. I’ve talked to my mechanics and engineers, the remaining nine races we want to finish in style and a podium would be a dream for us. Maybe this weekend will be the first once we get it,” he finished.
