Alcaraz enters the ‘Top 5’ of the ATP ranking after his final in Hamburg

It is the only change in a ‘Top 10’ led by the Russian Daniil Medvedev

MADRID, 25 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz debuts in the ‘Top 5’ of the world ranking after reaching the final in the tournament in Hamburg (Germany), in a world ‘Top 10’ without further changes and with the Russian Daniil Medvedev as number one.

The Murcian played this Sunday the final of the Hamburg tournament, in the ATP 500 category and held on clay, but he was left with honey on his lips and unable to celebrate what would have been his fifth title in 2022. However, playing that final against the Italian Lorenzo Musetti, who experienced the highest rise in the ‘Top 100’ -now he ranks 31st after ascending 31 steps-, allowed him to ascend for the first time in his career to fifth place in the world ranking.

The Norwegian Casper Ruud, who reissued the title in Gstaad (Switzerland) drops to sixth place in a ranking without further movement with Medvedev at the top, ahead of the German Alexander Zverev and the Spanish Rafa Nadal, and with the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas fourth. Serbian Novak Djokovic remains in seventh place and Roger Federer continues to be out of the ATP rankings due to his inactivity.

The Spanish Roberto Bautista (20) closes the ‘Top 20’, with Pablo Carreño rising one position (21) and Jaume Munar starring in the greatest rise to position 59. Albert Ramos falls to number 52 in the world and loses 12 places.
