MADRID, 19 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

A total of 5,500 runners participated this Sunday in the X Santa Claus El Corte Inglés Solidarity Race, with a route of 4.5 kilometers, and in which boxer Joana Pastrana received the Golden Santa Claus, the highest award of the event.

The fastest in the female category were the world champion of trail running in the master 40 category, the Belgian Charlotte Cotton, followed by Beatriz Morillo, who ran pushing the cart of her daughter Valeria, and Ana Rodríguez García. The winner of the men’s event was Jesús González Cidón, followed by Daniel Alcalá and Juan Aparicio García.

As every year, the race, which celebrates 10 editions, allocated one euro per participant to a charitable cause. Specifically, 5,500 euros will go to the project “School Success Promotion” of the Spanish Red Cross, which works to improve the situation of children at risk of social exclusion. To this figure must be added the 1.60 euros of each registration to the virtual format of the race.

One of the great moments of the morning was the delivery of the Golden Santa Claus to the world and European champion Joana Pastrana. The boxer is the first non-athlete to receive the highest distinction of the event. Before her, illustrious names from the Spanish fund and medium fund did such as Fermín Cacho (2017), Jesús España (2018), Alessandra Aguilar (2019) and Javi Guerra (2020).

“It is an honor to receive this award, which before me have won such illustrious names. I am a very serious competitor, I always give my all, but I like this race precisely the opposite, for taking the sport in a different way. It is necessary to remember that, in the end, the most important thing when you practice any sport is to have fun, “said the athlete.
