Zverev conquers his fifth title in Vienna in his fifth final of 2021

MADRID, 31 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

German tennis player Alexander Zverev has won the title in the Vienna tournament, ATP 500 category and played on hard court, after beating American Frances Tiafoe (7-5, 6-4) in the final this Sunday, a result that allows him to retain the plenary session in the finals in 2021.

The German, number four in the world, did not fail in his fifth final of the year to lift his fifth twist of 2021 -after the ATP 500 in Acapulco, the Masters 1,000 in Madrid and Cincinnati and the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympic Games- to match its 2017 mark. In addition, it adds title number 18 of its record.

Zverev started by breaking the American’s serve in the third game, but the American responded with a ‘counter-break’ and forced the German to break again in the twelfth to win the first set. In the second, after wasting four breaking balls and surviving one, he closed the contest to the rest after one hour and 36 minutes of play.
