Pepe Domingo will be remembered as one of the voices of Spanish sports radio. During his career, he achieved numerous recognitions, among which four Ondas Awards, two Golden Antennas, a Golden Microphone, the Joaquín Prat Award and the National Sports Award stand out.

Pepe Domingo’s colleagues have spoken about him as soon as the news of his death was announced. Juanma Castaño and Manolo Lama wanted to dedicate some emotional words to him. Juanma Castaño: «It is a sad day, a very difficult moment for the entire radio. It’s been a very hard night. He was our spiritual leader, without a doubt. But we can rest assured because he has lived life long and well. Every time I sit down with friends at a table with friends for dinner I will remember him. He was always organizing lunches, dinners and celebrations. He was a proud and happy grandfather and a complicit husband.

Manolo Lama: «I felt the radio and wore the Cope t-shirt in a way that you cannot imagine. Pepe will want us to remember him as he was. A fun guy, with a desire to live, a good father, husband and son. He was not fit to sit in a chair and a bed. He will continue to live in the heart of radio ».

The communicator was one of the most recognizable voices on the Spanish airwaves, currently carrying out ‘Tiempo de Juego’, the sports program every weekend at COPE. Pepe also worked on Cadena SER and on TVE, in addition to making his first steps in the world of music, his was the much-remembered song ‘Neniña’.

“The day we never wanted to come has arrived. This morning Pepe Domingo Castaño died at the age of 80. We don’t know what to say because Pepe was everything to us,” the Tiempo de Juego program published on its X account announcing the sad news.

“The radio will never sound the same again without you. This family will never beat the same again without you but, for you, we will continue. We still don’t know how we are going to do it but we will continue to fill the void you leave us with life and radio. We love you Pepe, we love you and we will always love you as you have taught us, with joy and united,” underlines the message published by Tiempo de Juego.
