Vrsaljko says goodbye to Atlético after five seasons

MADRID, 30 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Croatian player of Atlético de Madrid Sime Vrsaljko separated this Thursday from the mattress club after the end of his contract, as announced by the entity in a statement, where he thanks the footballer for the services provided for almost five years.

“The contractual relationship that linked Sime Vrsaljko with our club has come to an end. The Balkan winger will face new professional challenges after having played 100 official matches with the red and white since his arrival in 2016 from Italian Sassuolo,” reported Atlético de Madrid .

Vrsaljko, who made his Atlético debut on September 17, 2016 against Sporting de Gijón, would have his future tied up with the Greek Olympiacos. However, it is expected that in a few days he will confirm his new club to be able to start the preseason together with his new teammates.

The international winger was part of the squad that won LaLiga 2020/21, this being his second title as a rojiblanco after winning the Europa League in 2018. A year that was special for Vrsaljko because he also managed to become world runner-up with the Croatian national team.

In addition, on May 11, in a match against Elche, the Croatian winger reached the centenary number of official matches with the mattress shirt, having played 70 in LaLiga, 13 in the Champions League, 12 in the Cup, 4 in the Europa League and one in the Spanish Super Cup.

“From Atlético de Madrid we wish Sime Vrsaljko the best of luck in his future personal and sporting projects,” the mattress statement concludes.
