Ultras of Olimpia de Ljubljana expel Albert Riera from his presentation as coach

MADRID, 4 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Ultra fans of Olimpia de Ljubljana broke into the presentation of former Spanish soccer player Albert Riera as the team’s new coach on Monday and forced him to leave the press room.

The 40-year-old from Manacor had to leave the room where he was being presented after dozens of radical fans of the Slovenian club, many of them wearing balaclavas, entered and forced his departure. Along with him also came the sports director of the entity, Mladen Rudonja.

The ultras protested the dismissal of Croatian coach Robert Prosinecki, who had to leave the team just three months after taking office due to discrepancies with the board, especially with its president, Adam Delius.

Riera, a former player for RCD Mallorca, RCDE Espanyol and Liverpool, among others, is facing his first experience as head coach in the Slovenian capital, after working as second for two seasons at Galatasay.
