UEFA grants the RFEF 20,000 euros for the 2022-2023 Football and Refugee Scholarship Program

MADRID, 4 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

UEFA, through its Department of Social and Environmental Sustainability, has granted this Tuesday to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) 20,000 euros for the Football and Refugee Scholarship Program for the 2022-2023 season, according to a statement from the entity.

This has been officially communicated by Michele Uva, head of said UEFA department, to the general secretary of the RFEF, Andreu Camps. For this reason, the Federation has obtained the subsidy for its Program, chosen among 24 national federations that attended the sixth edition of this call for aid from the European organization.

“The jury of experts that has evaluated each of the proposals highlights, from the RFEF project, the great utility of some aspects of the program, such as language teaching, or focusing on the employability and social autonomy of refugee women “, highlighted the RFEF about its proposal for a call whose funds have grown for this edition by 43 percent compared to last year.

According to the RFEF statement, those responsible for UEFA also underline the knowledge of the needs of refugees that demonstrate the proposals reflected in the Program presented by the Spanish federative entity. In addition, they valued their “commitment to alleviate the migratory mourning and the cultural shock of refugees”, as well as the actions aimed at “having contact with the local population and other migrants”, favoring their “empowerment”.

The RFEF recalled that it will participate, along with 15 other national federations, in the Euro Unity Cup, a competition in which each country will compete with a selection of refugees. The tournament will be held on June 28 and will be held in the German city of Frankfurt.
