These are the years you have to contribute to get early retirement

All people interested in retiring early must first take into account whether the reduction in the amount of their pension compensates them and, in addition, know if they meet all the requirements to which they are forced to retire early.

One of the most important is that of the previous quote. Thus, the worker is obliged to contribute a series of years to be eligible for any of the early retirement modalities. As with the right to a pension (or the right to collect 100% of the regulatory base), compliance with it is mandatory because, otherwise, you will not have the right.

The requirements may be different depending on the type of early retirement. The most common of all, the early retirement at the will of the worker (known as voluntary), requires workers to reach a minimum of 35 years of contributions to be eligible for it. To achieve this figure, it is possible to use a year from the military or the substitute social benefit.

But not only that, in addition to this generic contribution period, Social Security also imposes a specific contribution period: the worker must contribute at least two years within the last 15 years. six of the last 10 years worked.

This changes slightly in the cases of early retirements derived from involuntary termination of work, the so-called involuntary early retirements. For them, a prior contribution period of 33 years is mandatory, in which one year of military service or substitute social benefit can be added.

As in voluntary early retirement, in this modality workers have to add at least two years of contributions from the last 15, a period that becomes at least six years of contributions from the last 10 for agricultural workers.

In the case of public officials included in the Passive Classes regime, retirement is allowed at 60 years as long as they prove 30 years of contribution, of which the five immediately prior to the application must be in that regime. The staff of the Cortes Generales need 35 years of contributions.

Other workers belonging to professions that due to their hardship, dangerousness or toxicity have different early retirements have very specific previous contributions, adjusted to their careers. This is the case of singers, dancers or trapeze artists (they need 8 years worked in the profession of the last 21), firefighters at the service of public administrations and members of the Ertzaintza (who have to prove 35 years to retire early at 59 years), as well as the local police (who need 36 years of work to be able to advance their retirement).
